Camp slasher horror meets psychosexual sapphic erotica in Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, a strikingly meta third feature from director Jane Schoenbrun. The film lives up to its title with a bloody and artistically bold exploration of genre tropes, Hollywood’s perception of gender deviance, and a stunning physical awakening. There’s a lot to unpack here, and not all of it works. Pacing issues admittedly persist throughout, but you have to credit Schoenbrun and their fantastic leads for a decidedly unique experience.
