Netflix has confirmed the release date and schedule for a new horror thriller anime hitting later this year, but unfortunately fans are not happy with the streaming service right now. Netflix took the stage during the Anime NYC 2026 weekend to give fans a major update about all of the new projects they now have in the works, and that includes some big licenses that fans have been wanting to see. But unfortunately for some of these highly anticipated releases, the Netflix binge release model won’t exactly be a great fit.
Kasumi Yasuda’s Fool Night is gearing up to make its official anime adaptation debut with Netflix later this November, and has dropped a full new look showing off what to expect from its highly anticipated premiere. But unfortunately it has also confirmed that all of its episodes will be releasing at once rather than dropping weekly. And fans are not happy that the series’ mystery won’t get a chance to flesh out in the way they were hoping for. Check out the new trailer and special interview video for Fool Night below.
Fool Night will be making its worldwide debut with Netflix on November 26th, and will be releasing all of its episodes at once. It’s going to be a joint production between two legendary anime studios with Atsuyuki Yukawa directing the anime for Sunrise (Mobile Suit Gundam) and Shaft (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), Jin Tanaka handling the series composition, Robert Sato providing the character designs, and Tatsuya Kato composing the music. So it’s going to both look and sound great.
The main voice cast of Fool Night has been confirmed as well with Koki Uchiyama as Toshiro Kamiya, Minako Kotobuki as Yomiko Horai, Junya Enoki as Akira Yatsuka, Aya Endo as Saeko Kanaeno, and Kiyomitsu Mizuuchi as Jin Hiragishi. Netflix has confirmed that the series will also be launching with an English dub, and it will be led by Adam McArthur as Toshiro and Olivia Liang as Yomiko. Thankfully it won’t be too much longer before fans get to see this new series in action.
Kasumi Yasuda’s Fool Night manga has been a standout with Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior magazine ever since it made its debut back in 2020, and it’s no mystery as to why as the franchise sparks a cool new mystery in a dark world. With oxygen running out, humanity has resorted to planting flowers and other plants within dying people in a process known as “Transfloration” that keeps that minimal oxygen supply going for as long as it can. But it seems like it’s all going to hit right at once.
Netflix’s release strategy has been changing quite a lot with its anime premieres in the last few years, and it’s meant that a lot of the newer hits have been able to drop their new episodes on a weekly basis much like their initial debuts in Japan. This is a far cry from the binge releases that used to come months after the fact that the streaming service used to do, but when it occasionally happens it still comes as a bummer for those fans hoping to see the series getting to flesh out over several weeks and spark discussion that way. It’s still possible, but fans are going to need to work that much harder.
