A Minecraft Movie arrives in theaters with a pre-built audience champing at the bit for the long-awaited adaptation of the best-selling video game. The good news is that novices and the uninitiated will easily understand the film’s cubic concepts. The bad news is that it’s exceedingly silly with puerile humor meant for young children and die-hard enthusiasts who check their brain at the door. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few decent chuckles and the visual effects are competently done, but the goofy characters, inane narrative, and weak musical numbers will be a chore to sit through for most adults.
