Michael pulls no punches depicting the abuse, loneliness, and self-loathing that propelled a generational talent. Audiences will undoubtedly be grooving in their seats during the magnificent performance numbers and then recoil in disgust as Joe Jackson (Colman Domingo in early Oscar contention) cruelly whips his youngest son into exploitative submission.
