Audiences always appreciate the dedication and physicality that Charlize Theron brings to her action movie roles, even if the movies themselves aren’t necessarily worth appreciating. At the apex of the list is her 2017 bulldozer, Atomic Blonde, with its epic 10-minute, one-take fight scene in a stairwell. At the bottom of the list, we have a new winner: Apex is yet another entry in Netflix’s never-ending parade of forgettable originals, one that takes its action cues from Deliverance, Cliffhanger, 1932’s The Most Dangerous Game, and The River Wild, and its emotional cues from a sympathy card.
