'Passenger' Review: It's All Style Over Substance in Lame Van Life Horror

Thinking of dumping your job, apartment, and daily grind for an adventurous van life on the road? Passenger drives that dream off a cliff and into a ravine of generic horror tropes. Ostensibly intelligent characters become willing lambs to the slaughter without a drop of common sense or self-preservation. There is a smattering of jump scares, so the minimum fright box gets dutifully checked, but a contrived and sluggish narrative defangs any consistent terror. That said, Passenger is competently shot and earns style points with capable cinematography. Everything else requires a brain check at the theater door.
