Gnarly monsters run amok in director Steven Kostanski’s gloriously cheesy remake of the 1983 sword-and-sorcery cult classic Deathstalker. Nothing is taken seriously, as a fabled warrior and his ragtag accomplices fight demonic evil in a corny melee of decapitations and blood-spurting severed limbs. There are moments of good humor in a formulaic plot loaded with convoluted lore and campy, overblown special effects, but Deathstalker does drag on longer than expected. That said, B-movie and genre enthusiasts will be satisfied with a known commodity, while those who aren’t already into this kind of thing should probably steer clear.
