Government Cheese is a whimsical crime comedy filtered through the lens of the “Book of Jonah,” in which a man avoids doing “the right thing” until a life-saving, miraculous event convinces (or threatens) him to walk the moral path and, well, have faith. Government Cheese is unsubtle to a fault with this religious symbolism, though it couldn’t be more different from the average faith-based show.
