Solo Leveling’s New Sequel Continues Jinwoo’s Journey Ahead of Anime’s Return

There’s still a while before the anime will return with the sequel film, but Solo Leveling continues to engage fans with new content even now. Thanks to the novel written by Chugong and the webtoon adaptation illustrated by DUBU, the anime’s debut was a massive hit worldwide. The second season was released in 2025, exactly one year after the anime’s premiere, and it wrapped up the fan-favorite Jeju Island Arc. The sequel film will set things in motion as Jinwoo gets one step closer to finding out the truth about the world. However, while fans await the anime’s return, Solo Leveling: KARMA began a new one-shot series that serves as an official sequel to the original webtoon.

The promotional sequel began in June this year, when the official X handle of the upcoming video game shared one-shot webtoon strips depicting a new scene. The “Moments in Between” series follows Jinwoo during the 27 years of his solitary war against the Monarchs. He leaped from one dimension to another in order to ensure the safety of the world. The latest webtoon strip, illustrated by @1228cjrb on X, features Jinwoo getting homesick as he misses his mother and sister. He’s also craving his mom’s stew, which indirectly forces Igris to take on a difficult challenge so he can make Jinwoo happy. This is the fifth webtoon strip of the series, and there will be more going forward.

This upcoming video game developed by Netmarble will expand the story to follow Jinwoo during the 27 years he fought against the Monarchs in order to ensure that the gates wouldn’t appear in the current timeline. This happened right after the final battle in the main story, where Jinwoo leaped through several dimensions and fought against the Monarchs along with his shadows. The game will follow an original script to serve as the story’s sequel, as it highlights his struggles during the solitary journey.

The game was officially announced during Anime Expo 2025, but despite the constant promotions, the game hasn’t revealed an exact release date yet. However, since it is expected to be out sometime this year, fans might have to wait a few more weeks before getting an official confirmation.

After making fans wait for more than a year, an anime sequel was officially confirmed in July this year during the Anime Expo. However, instead of a third season, the anime confirmed a feature-length film which will continue his journey after the Jeju Island Arc. Now that Jinwoo’s powers are known to the entire world, the story will take a completely unexpected direction as he finds all kinds of Guilds trying to get him on their side.

However, Jinwoo has his own plans, and the sequel film will reveal his next step. The film will adapt the Recruitment Arc from the main story. However, since it’s a relatively short arc, we can also expect the story to move on to the Ahjin Guild and the Double Dungeon Arcs. The film hasn’t shared a release date or even a window yet, but we can expect the film to premiere next year.
